Strict dope tests for Military World Games

Strict dope testing measures will be put in place during the forthcoming MWG to be held in Hyderabad and in Mumbai from October 14 to 21.

Strict dope testing measures will be put in place during the forthcoming Military World Games (MWG) to be held here and in Mumbai from October 14 to 21.

Samples of all record breaking winners, in addition to random samples, will be sent to special laboratories in Bangkok on a daily basis to ensure heighest international standards, a release from the organisers said here on Saturday.

Nearly 4,700 participants from 73 countries have already confirmed their participation in the 13 events to be conducted at the fourth edition of the Games being held for the first time in Asia.

The largest contingent will be from India besides China and Germany which will be fielding over 200 sportspersons each from their armed forces.

Continent-wise, Europe will be sending the maximum number of countries. Thirty-four of the total of 38 nations of Europe will converge for the Games which is seen as a precursor to the Olympic Games next year, the release added.
