Strike over, it?s time to clear backlog pile

OVER 12,000 EMPLOYEES and officers of the SBI, Lucknow Circle, who resumed work on Monday, had a tough time clearing the backlog.

The SBI main branch witnessed an unprecedented rush of customers. The SBI top management at the local head office continuously monitored pace of work at every branch.

“I have urged all employees and officers to complete the pending work by Monday midnight. All the GMs, DGMs and regional managers including myself had been visiting SBI branches in the city to ensure completion of pending work at the earliest,” SBI CGM (Lucknow circle) P Bhashyam said.

He said that the SBI branches in Medical College, Allahabad, S A Road, Varanasi, Railway Colony, Gorakhpur, Mahewa Itawa, KUMS, Jhansi, Banda City, Banda, Lajpat Nagar and M.G. Marg, Kanpur, Muradabad Main Branch, Izzatnagar and cantonment Bareily, Mahanagar and Cantonment, Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, Rae Bareily, Barabanki, Bharaich, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, Akbarpur, Balrampur, Faizabad, Gonda, Hardoi, Pilibhit and Shahjanpur would be open on Tuesday (April 11), which a public holiday, he said.

“During the morning hours, I called up principal secretary (Finance), Government of UP  Shekhar Agarwal and told him that SBI is committed to clearing all the government bills at the earliest,” Bhashyam added.

He said that excepting some ATMS located in far-flung areas, virtually all the ATMs had been filled with cash.

“ATMs in far-flung areas, too, would be filled with cash by evening,” Bhashyam said.

To a question on the total value of  transactions pending with SBI at the moment, he commented : “We are assessing the quantum of  transaction work remaining with each SBI branch in Lucknow Circle. This exercise will take some time.”
