Student commits suicide after girlfriend?s death

A 21-year-old student committed suicide inside his car in southwest Delhi on Saturday. The deceased took the extreme step as he was reportedly depressed after his girlfriend had committed suicide a few days back.
The incident came to light around 11 am on Saturday when some passersby found the deceased, Ajay, lying in an unconscious state inside a Maruti car in the Palam area of southwest Delhi. The police took the victim to a nearby hospital. The police recovered empty bottles of sulphas tablets from the car but did not find any suicide note on the deceased
“The victim was depressed after his friend committed suicide a few days back. His body was found lying in a car near his house. He had consumed sulphas tablets to end his life,” said Ravindra Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (south-west).
Ajay, who had been studying hotel management in Hyderabad, had come to Delhi a few days back. Ajay’s girlfriend had separated from her husband and was living near Ajay’s house in the Palam area. She was a mother of two.
On January 10, Shashi attempted suicide by consuming sulphas tablets inside her house. Ajay took her to Babu Jagjiwan Ram Hospital where she died on January 11. Ajay could not take the pain.
The victim’s family members, who live in Shaad Nagar in Palam area, were subsequently informed about the incident. His father Subhash Chand owns a grocery store in Palam. The family told the police that they were not happy with Ajay’s relationship with a married woman.
An inquiry into the incident has been initiated at the Dabri police station.
