A well-known city college has been closed for 10 days from on Monday after one of its students showed swine flu symptoms.
A 19-year-old student of Madras Christian College (MCC) and a final year engineering student of another institution were yesterday admitted to the Communicable Diseases Hospital with suspected flu symptoms.
MCC authorities said the institution had been closed 'tentatively' for 10 days and medical teams are screening the students residing in the four hostels of the college.
Those students who showed no symptoms of the disease have been asked to leave for their homes, the authorities said.
Till now, Tamil Nadu has reported one death due to the viral disease. A four-and-a-half year old boy died last week of the flu in Chennai.
