The police have booked an engineering student for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old girl. The minor is a student of class 9 at Delhi Public School, Maruti Kunj, Gurgaon.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Rohit, met the girl Anu (name changed) on social networking site Facebook. The youth and the girl knew each other for some time and the duo disappeared on Friday, the police said.

A complaint was registered on Friday at Bhondsi police station by the girl's father, who resides in Jharsha. He alleged that Rohit had kidnapped his daughter.

The accused from Sohna, was also missing since the mysterious disappearance of the girl, said a police official. "Anu and Rohit became friend on Facebook. Rohit is a student of Government Polytechnic Sampla and pursuing a diploma course in engineering. We got a complaint from girl's father who alleged that Rohit misguided his daughter and kidnapped the minor girl", said the official.

The police claimed that the youth and the girl made plans to elope. The girl had allegedly eloped with Rohit as she wanted to marry him. However, the youth is bound to be booked under charges of kidnapping," said the police officer.

“A case of kidnapping a minor was registered against Rohit. This is yet to be confirmed that the accused himself is a minor or not," said the official.
