In a shocking incident, the headless body of a 20-year-old youth was found on the tracks near Garhi Harsaru railway station in Gurgaon on Sunday. The severed head is yet to be recovered, police said.

The deceased, Sandeep Lohia, was a student of Cambridge Institute of Education in sector 10. He belonged to Nathupura at DLF Phase III.

The police recovered a suicide note from the spot.

The note said that the institute’s principal insulted him consistently and this provoked him to take the extreme step.

Though the police believe that prima facie it is a suicide case, they are probing all angles.

Sandeep’s family, however, alleged that it was a case of ‘honour’ killing. They said that the victim had been in a relationship with a girl of the same institute for the past six months.

The police suspect that the incident happened on Saturday night. “On Saturday afternoon, Sandeep told me that he was going to meet a friend and would come back at 7.30pm. He called up twice in the evening and wanted to talk to his mother. When I asked him what had happened, he said he would come home late. After that, his mobile was switched off. It seems someone had killed him,” said Sandeep’s elder brother, Pradeep.

“His mobile and wallet were missing from the spot. His severed head was also not found,” he added.

Jaiveer Singh, an official of Gurgaon railway police, said, “Prima facie it looks like a suicide. We are examining the handwriting of the victim. We will interrogate the girl in question and her family.”
