A 21-year-old student of Amity University was stabbed by five men at an automobile workshop close to the national capital in Ghaziabad, apparently over a love triangle, police said on Monday.

Sanjay Sharma, a first year MBA student at the university in Noida, was getting his car repaired on Sunday night at a workshop that comes under the Kavi Nagar police station when five youths barged in, stabbed him in the abdomen and fled.

Mechanics at the workshop immediately informed the police and rushed Sanjay to Sarvoday Hospital. The victim survived and doctors said he had sustained five stab wounds in his abdomen.

The son of a government employee and resident of Nehru Nagar III locality here, Sanjay reportedly had an affair with a girl in his university, Circle Officer CP Singh said. The attempt on Sanjay's life could be because of a possible love triangle, he added.
