A student of the Apeejay Architecture Institute, Greater Noida and a vendor's assistant was injured in a mysterious shooting incident near the Centre Stage Mall at 2.30 a.m. on Friday.

“We were a group of 15 students and were eating paranthas at a vendor opposite CSM Mall around 2.15 a.m., when we heard three gunshots. At first, we thought it’s a cracker burst,” a student said.

“But when we found blood on the left arm of Prashant Verma, we realised that a bullet had hit him," said another student. “Then we heard Birju (the parantha vendor’s assistant) writhing in pain. He, too, had suffered a bullet wound,” he added.

“We do not know from where the bullets were fired,” the student informed.

All students Hindustan Times spoke to requested that their names not be disclosed, as it would cause their parents undue mental agony.

V.B.Joshi, spokesperson, Kailash Hospital said, “Prashant Verma was operated upon this afternoon and his condition is stable. The bullet had hit his left upper arm and had passed from the other side. Luckily, it did not hit any bones.”
