Students attack flying squad, get lathicharged

THE FLYING squad had to face the wrath of examinees today at GB Pant Polytechnic College when squad members were manhandled and their official vehicle was damaged. Students even burnt question papers and answer sheets used during the examination.

THE FLYING squad had to face the wrath of examinees today at GB Pant Polytechnic College when squad members were manhandled and their official vehicle was damaged. Students even burnt question papers and answer sheets used during the examination.

The incident took place when squad members reached the college around 8.30 am during the annual exams and started checking students. One of the invigilators KK Srivastava opposed the squad but he was sent out of the examination hall.

When the squad members asked Srivastava to come to the principal’s room, the students got angry and started raising slogans. Another teacher RK Soni attempted to calm down the students but he was beaten up.

The students then left the examination hall and ran towards the squad. As the squad members fled from the scene in one of their vehicles the students broke the windshield of the other vehicle parked on the campus. Some of the students came out with the answer sheets and set them ablaze.

Watching the students going on the rampage, cops deployed there used mild force to disperse them. Later, the cops lathicharged them and in the melee, several students got injured. Some of the students were locked up inside hostel rooms. The principal has lodged a complaint with the police in this connection.
