A SECTION of Allahabad University (AU) students led by Vijay Dwivedi gheraoed AU registrar and proctor on Wednesday and demanded that that suspension of Vijay Dwivedi should be revoked. They also demanded dismissal of corrupt employees at AU’s migration counter.

To recall, Vijay Dwivedi reportedly had assaulted two staff members of the examination cell’s migration counter on Tuesday afternoon.

Upset over the incident, employees of the examination cell had immediately stopped work and lodged a formal complaint with the AU controller of exams Prof HS Upadhyaya through the assistant registrar (Examination).

Prof Upadhayaya then informed proctor Prof Jata Shankar in this regard and the proctor suspended Dwivedi and also informed the Colenalganj police station about the assault. The proctor also initiated an inquiry into the incident.

This morning, the students leader demanded that registrar Firdous A Wani should suspend the “corrupt employees”. He also wanted to lodge an FIR against them for his alleged misbehaviour and assault on a Dalit student.

The students claimed that the registrar and proctor had assured them to investigate the matter and take action against the guilty.

The students later lodged a complaint with Colonelganj police station against the varsity employees and threatened to intensify the protest if no action was taken by the varsity authorities.
