india Updated: Jul 14, 2010 21:05 IST

A group of students on Wednesday pelted stones at Dhanbad Patna inter city express and smashed window panes of an AC coach when prevented from boarding the train at Mananpur railway station, causing minor injuries to some passengers.

As soon as the train arrived at Mananpur railway station, some students tried to forcibly board its AC coach without valid tickets, Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP), Jamalpur Gopal Prasad said.

On being checked, some of them resorted to stone pelting and damaged an AC coach of Patna-bound inter city express. They also cut off its hose pipe before leaving the railway station, he said.

Some passengers suffered minor injuries in stone pelting, the SRP official said, adding they were given first aid at the railway station itself.

Service on Keul Jhaha section was disrupted and several trains were running behind schedule due to the incident, a railway official said.
