A team of 16 students from India, including two girls, have successfully trekked to the Everest base camp situated at some 5,400 metre above sea level on the way to the highest mountain peak of the world.

Reaching the base camp is one of the toughest challenges taken up by trekkers, short of scaling the over 8,840 metre peak. The Management Graduate students from XLRI, Jamshedpur, said they had a marvellous experience making it to the Base camp.

“It was a fantastic experience as we climbed up to 5,400 metres at the base camp on March 22,” team leader Abhinav Ananda, 25, said. “We did not face any problem and received warm hospitality from the locals,” he added. The group completed the trek with a budget of Rs 3 lakh.
