Students protest against separate Telangana, burn KCR effigy

Students from various colleges and schools in Rajahmundry took out rallies today and burnt the effigy of Telangana Rasthra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao, in protest against the separate Telangana campaign triggered by TRS.

The students led by various unions held demonstrations in front of their educational institutions in support of "Samakhya" (United) Andhra Pradesh.

They held protests at district headquarters and at mandal levels in East and West Godavari.

Reports from Bikovollu, Kakinada, Amalapuram, Jaggempt in East Godavari said the students holding demonstrations burnt the effigy of Chandrasekhara Rao.

Security has been beefed up in East and West Godavari districts in view of prevailing situation, police said.

There was no untoward incident and no arrests were made, they said.

We are observing the situation. So far students took out peaceful rallies.
