Hundreds of medical and engineering students took out a rally in Pune on Sunday to protest against the proposed reservations for OBCs in elite educational institutions.

The students also protested against the beating by police of medical students during a demonstration in Mumbai on Saturday.

The rally held under the aegis of Youth For Equality was joined by students from BJ Medical College, Talgegoan Medical College, College of Engineering, Maharashtra Institute of Technology and Singhad Institute of Technology.

Abhijeet Baldote, spokesman for the Pune chapter of Youth For Equality, said the anti-reservation agitation would be intensified in the city after consultations with their Mumbai counterparts.
