Ever thought of instance where everything that could possibly go wrong on a popular talk show, does go wrong!
To leave the audience in splits, a group of students from Sri Venkateswara College will recreate the comedy of errors at the Epicentre on Thursday.
Directed by Sidhartha Vohra and Sumer Tiwari, the production was declared Best Play at BITS Pilani in October 2010.
Further on, the play was felicitated at Miranda House with Best Play and Best Actor (Sidharth Vohra) and Best director at Gargi College recently.
The play depicts a day on The Bunter Smiles Talk Show when the host is supposed to interview an ultra-popular film star Liban Lobo who appears with scorned ex-girlfriend Linda, Candice, an unwitting victim of Liban’s womanizing ways and his new flame Sasha. It is a fight for Bunter’s marriage, his and Lobo’s career, and as the scene unravels, their lives.
Adapted from a play of the same name by Gary Diamond, the boys have modified the script to suit Indian sensibilities.
“British humour is dry and subtle, we have made it made it more slapstick and easy to understand,” says Vohra.
The group has eight actors who get together every afternoon to create new scripts and put them to practice.
“Theatre is our reason d'etre. It keeps our motivation to come to college alive,” says Nandita Singh, vice-president of the group and an actor.
