THE FIRST meeting of the high-level committee constituted by the State Government to make Bhopal a ‘global city’ was held on Saturday at the Environmental Protection and Coordination Organisation (EPCO) office.
The committee is headed by retired bureaucrat M N Buch and includes prominent environmental experts and city planners as members.
During the course of meeting, 11 sub-committees on various aspects of global city, like landscape, infrastructure development, environment protection and others were constituted and nodal officers appointed.
These nodal officers would now be appointing the members on these sub-committees. The next meeting of the committee is scheduled on October 14.
The meeting commenced with a presentation by chairman Buch and followed by a presentation made by an NGO. Thereafter, discussions were held on the presentations made.
Principal Secretary of Forest, Avani Vaish; Principal Secretary of Housing, Environment and Urban Administration, P D Meena (who is also the Executive Director of EPCO); Secretary to the Chief Minister, Anurag Jain; Town and Country Planning director Dipti Gaur, Bhopal Mayor Sunil Sood, Tourism Development Corporation MD Ashwani Lohani, Culture and Archaeology Director Pankaj Rag, eminent architect A G K Menon and others were present at the meeting.
