The Socialist Unity Centre of India on Tuesday said it would contest eight Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala, besides putting up candidates in 32 other constituencies across the country.
`It is only SUCI which upholds the politics of people. Even the Left parties are engaged in breaking people's movement in their areas of influence with the Nandigram movement in West Bengal being a glaring example', SUCI Central Committee member Krishna Chakraborty told reporters in Kozhikode.
SUCI would also contest from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh. Besides, it would also contest the assembly polls from Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, he said.
The Third Front had taken shape only with the sole intention of grabbing power at the Centre, he alleged.
`In the given circumstances, only the SUCI upholds the banner of democratic mass movement, the strengthening of which alone can pave the way for the people to lead a better life', he added.
