THE INDORE Municipal Corporation has invited suggestions from corporators for the 2006-07 budget. The corporators will be asked to tender their suggestions and proposals at a meeting to be held at the mayoral conference hall at 4 pm on Tuesday.

The invitation comes a day after the expiry of the deadline inviting inputs on the forthcoming budget from the general public. These, together with recommendations made by elected representatives, will be taken up by the Mayor-in-Council (MiC), which will make the necessary amendments prior to tabling the budgetary draft before the 69-member general council for approval.

The MiC is learnt to have finalised a rough budgetary draft during brainstorming sessions held at the Narmada project office at Moosakhedi over the last fortnight. Once the suggestions are incorporated, the draft will be ready for tabling at the budget meeting of the general council, likely to be held by the end of the month.

Although corporators are expected to contribute their take on broad budgetary matters the elected representatives usually make a mockery of the event by focussing on micro, rather than macro, issues.
