CONTINUING THEIR winning run, ONGC beat Golden Hawk (GH) by a huge margin of 142 runs in the DDCA Hot-Weather tournament at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Monday.
ONGC crafted their victory through Suhail Sharma’s all-round effort (26 runs and 4/11 in 5.1 overs) and Man-of-the-Match Saurabh Kumar’s four-wickets for 25 runs.
Batting first, on winning the toss, ONGC managed 264 for 6 in 40 overs. Sandeep Sharma (72 off 72) top scored for ONGC while Radheyshyam Gupta contributed 45 runs.
No other batsman could do much after that. It was Suhail Sharma's cameo (26 runs off 22 balls) that took ONGC to a respectable total. Later, he took three wickets in an over to shut out any possibility of a Golden Hawk victory. That Suhail's over, in which a run out also took place besides the three wickets, left G.H at 66 for 7 after 16 overs.
Though Suhail missed a hat trick, it was surprising to see him not get the man-of-the-match. But then, ONGC and Suhail wouldn’t mind 15-year-old Saurabh Kumar getting the award.
For Golden Hawk, Vivek Srivastav scored a half-century. The losing side didn’t field well and gave as many as 30 runs as extras.
