Couple ends life; man kills self on being snubbed by wife

TIFF BETWEEN married couples took suicidal turn as a couple ended their lives one after the other while a man took the extreme step on being snubbed by his wife.

Regular tiff between a newly wed couple led to their tragic end on Saturday morning as the woman committed suicide while her husband followed suit.
Though a suicide note stating the exact reason behind the couple taking the extreme step was found, the family members referred altercation between the duo as a possible motive.

It was around 1 am when Vijay Kumar Mishra of 557/24, Om Nagar locality in Alambagh entered the Balrampur Hospital emergency carrying his wife Shruti (23) in an unconscious state. Shruti was frothing from the mouth.

When inquired, Vijay told the doctors that she had consumed some poisonous substance, which he could not specify. The doctors applied all measures to save Shruti but nothing helped as her condition kept deteriorating. Around 6 am, the doctors declared the woman dead and sent the body for post-mortem.

Vijay, who stayed close to his wife’s bed the entire night, did not speak to anybody and reached home. Vijay’s father Ram Kumar Mishra, went home when his son did not respond to the calls made on his cellphone.

Mishra reached their Alambagh house around 8 am and entered the room to find Vijay lying on bed unconscious and frothing from the mouth.

Mishra and some other relatives rushed Vijay to the KGMU Trauma Centre around 9.20 am. He was provided all possible treatment but was declared dead around 2.20 pm.

Vijay’s father Ram Kumar told the police that his son was married to Shruti of Lakhimpur Kheri about one-and-half-years back. Vijay was a medical representative and used to stay out frequently. It was after six months of the marriage that the couple started picking up fight on one or another pretext.

Shruti’s father Gopalji Mishra and Ram Kumar had intervened several times and had tried to make relation between the couple cordial. When inquired from Gopalji Mishra and Ram Kumar about any strong issue which had led to a regular tiff between the couple, they kept mum.

Since the matter was not reported to the Alambagh police and the KGMU police outpost staff carried out the legal formalities, no effort was made by the local police to probe into the reason behind such a sensational incident.

Meanwhile, Rajesh (32) of Kalli Paschim village in Mohanlalganj hanged himself to death following a tiff with his wife on Saturday morning. Rajesh’s wife Santosh informed the police that she had gone to watch an orchestra programme along with her husband in the village on Friday night. It was around 12 in the night when Rajesh asked her to go home but she refused. Instead, she told her husband to go and that she would come after hearing two more songs. Miffed by her answer, Rajesh hanged himself from the ceiling’s hook.
