Summary of observations recorded today
The southwest Monsoon has been active in Assam and Meghalaya, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Konkan and Goa and coastal Karnataka. It has been subdued over west Uttar Pradesh, Hayana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. Southwest monsoon has been active over Telangana, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.
Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over Telangana, Lakshadweep and South interior Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and Coastal Andhrapradesh. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamilnadu and dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema.
The following stations recorded very heavy-to-heavy rainfall in Centimeters:- Siddapura (Udupi dt) 21, Kollur (Udupi dt) 15, Kundapura (Udupi dt) 14, Honavar 12, Mulki and Dharmasthala (both Dakshina Kannada dt) 11 each, Panambur, Karwar and Kota (Udupi dt) 10 each, Gerusoppa, Manchekeri and Yellapura (Uttara Kannada dt) 9 each, Mangalore Airport and Mani (Dakshina kannada dt) 8 each and Karkala (Uttara Kannada dt). Humchadakatte (Shimoga dt), Agumbe, Kalasa (Chickmagalur dt) And Bodhan (Nizamabad dt) 7 each.
The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are: Kudulu (Kasargode dt) 6, Puttur and Subramanya (Both Dakshina Kannada dt), Udupi, Shirali, Joida (Uttara Kannada dt), Madikeri, Talaguppa (Shimoga dt) and Sakaleshapura (Hassan dt) 5 each, Lakkavalli, Sringeri and Kammardi (All Chikmagalur dt) and Navipet (Nizamabad dt), Cannur, Thalasserry (Cannur dt), Manjeri (Malapuram dt) 4 each.
The axis of the monsoon trough at sea level passes through Phalodi, Jhansi, Ambikapur, Digha and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. The low pressure area over Jharkhand and neighbourhood has merged with monsoon trough. However, the associated cyclonic circulation now lies over Chattisgarh and neighbourhood and extends upto 3.6 kms a.s.l. The cyclonic circulation over Orissa and adjoining Jharkhand has merged with the above system.
The axis of monsoon trough extends upto 0.9 km a.s.l. and passes through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Guna, Satna, Ranchi, Balasore and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal. The off-shore trough at sea level from south Gujarat coast to Kerala coast Persists.
The cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km a.s.l. over south Rajasthan and neighbourhood persists, System is likely to move eastnortheastwards. The cyclonic circulation over Konkan-Goa and adjoining east central Arabian Sea has become less marked.
