The AIIMS doctors who filed a medical report on December 29 after revisiting the room where Sunanda Pushkar was found dead had pulled up Delhi Police for not submitting ‘inventory of the articles found at the crime scene.’
The three doctors in their report had mentioned that the articles from the crime spot had not been placed on record or before the board.
Pushkar, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s wife, was found dead in a five-star hotel suite on January 18, 2014. The police registered a murder case on the basis of this report.
In addition, the doctors mentioned in one of the points that broken glass pieces were found near the carpet and the curtain, which ‘is suggestive of some scuffle.’
The report re-affirms the findings of the autopsy report that the injuries on the body were caused ‘by forceful objects…sharp objects.’
The report, however, does not mention the word ‘homicide’ or cite the death as a ‘murder.’
Police said viscera samples were being sent for testing to a UK lab.
There is no official word from Delhi Police about Tharoor joining the investigation. Tharoor told reporters in Kerala he would not make any comments about the ongoing investigation.
A four-member special investigation team (SIT) probing the case has been making regular visits to the hotel room and quizzing the staff.
Sources said that the SIT has to take statements of all persons connected to the case and is likely to question Tharoor anytime.
Pakistan journalist Mehr Tarar, who had got into a spat with Pushkar days before her death, had told a news channel that she was ready to cooperate with Delhi police in their investigation.
Sources said Mehr Tarar was not directly linked to the case but would take her statement, if needed.
The investigating officials will mail her a questionnaire if they require her version about the tiff between her and Pushkar, regarding Tarar’s alleged affair with Tharoor.
Police commissioner BS Bassi said he had nothing to share with the media regarding the ongoing investigation.
“We will give the case update in a day or two.”
