The Lok Sabha member and senior NCP leader Supriya Sule demanded 33% reservation quota for women in the Assembly and Lok Sabha seats.
Sule, who was in Nagpur on Saturday, has called for bringing a new policy for women since there are many changes in the working atmosphere for the women and in the fast changing world on the social front.
Addressing a women a convention, sponsored by the women wing of the NCP here this afternoon she said that it was need of the hour to involve women as equal partner for the progress of the country and hence such reservation was essential in the policy-making bodies, like Assembly and the Parliament.
Sule, who is touring the entire length and breadth of Maharashtra to mobilize women force, has ruled out contesting the Assembly elections in future while reiterating her plans to contest from Baramati Lok Sabha constituency.
On the vacant post of chairperson of state Women Commission, she said that the issue would be taken up with the chief minister soon.
