Surgical masks were sold out in almost all the drug stores in the Mizoram capital and many people were seen wearing them in the streets today as swine flu scare hit the city with detection of two H1N1 cases on Saturday.
The two CRPF constables, one posted at Lengpui Airport near here and another at Delhi and on leave a few days back, have been quarantined and were being treated at Falkawn Hospital.
Hospital sources said their condition has improved and both were out of danger.
A ten-bedded ward has been arranged at the hospital, about 20 kilometres from here, which would be equipped with an Intensive Care Unit.
Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma, nodal officer for swine flu, told PTI that they had collected samples from 29 people which would be sent to the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) laboratory in Kolkata by tomorrow along with samples collected from the Lengpui Airport.
Earlier, four samples were sent to the NICED laboratory on Friday and the laboratory confirmed two positive cases.
