The youngest and reportedly the most brutal of six men convicted of the 2012 gangrape of a 23-year-old woman in Delhi is likely to walk free on Sunday after his three-year sentence at a correction home comes to an end.

The Delhi high court on Friday refused to extend the juvenile convict’s sentence, evoking sharp reactions from the victim’s parents, who said “crime has won and we have lost”.

The final call on the release of the man, now aged 20, will be taken by a panel of the Juvenile Justice Board after assessing if he has been “socially main-streamed”.

Take our survey and tell us your thoughts on his release.
