Sushil, Nandita on target

SUSHIL MISHRA and Nandita Chhibbar won the open men’s and women’s categories of the Mayor’s Trophy Shooting Competition organised at 25th Battalion’s Bhadbhada Road Shooting Range on Sunday. The competition was organised by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) in association with the Bhopal District Rifle Club (BDRC).
It was an overwhelming response from the shooters. More than 200 shooters not only from the Capital but also from other nearby places participated in the one-day competition. For the first time there was a separate competition for the junior category.
In the men’s open category, Sushil Mishra stood first with 87 points. Defending champion R K Gupta had to be content with the second position. He secured 80 points. Rudolf Gupta came third with 76 points.
In the women’s open category, Nandita Chhibbar dominated the event. She comfortably grabbed the trophy with 72 points. She was 11 points clear of the runner-up Dr Rachna David who scored 61 points. Versha Berman came third with 60 points.
The participants aimed the target with the .22-bore rifle. Rifles were provided by BDRC. Those who had personal rifles of .22- participated with their weapons. Ten cartridges were provided in every round.
In the prize distribution ceremony, Mayor Sunil Sood distributed prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sunil Sood said the objective of the shooting competition was to promote interest in shooting among citizens. On the occasion, BDRC patron AV Singh, Director Aruneshwar Singh-deo, secretary Rajesh Mis-hra, BMC coordinator Mahira Salamuddin, Robin Dutta and others were present.
