Local police on Sunday arrested a man, who suspecting 'illicit' relations, allegedly killed his 17-year-old daughter at a Kurukshetra village on late Friday night.

The matter came to the fore when police recovered the body of the girl from a well at Khairi village, about 20 kms from Kurukshetra town on Sunday.

Station house officer (SHO) of Babain police station, Dyal Chand told HT over phone that Seema was taking classes at a sewing training center at Kurukshetra and developed close relations with a youth.

When the family came to know about Seema's relations, they objected to it and threatened her to discontinue the relation. On not budging by the family's objection, the accused identified as Rajpal, killed her for protecting family's honour.

"Following a tip-off we inquired about the whereabouts of the teenager and the investigations led to the recovery of the body. In a fit of anger, Rajpal attacked the girl with a sickle on her neck and head and later dumped the body in a nearby well," said the SHO.

He said that the accused had admitted his crime and further investigations were on.

He clarified that only Rajpal was named in the case and the body was sent to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital at Kurukshetra for postmortem.
