Svelte Shveta is everybody?s favourite

DIRECTOR SANJAY Leela Bhansali, one of the three judges of the celebrity dance show ?Jhalak Dikhla Ja?, has already compared her with Madhuri Dixit. Her grace and poise along with well-coordinated moves with her dancing partner choreographer Longines has taken her far ahead of her nearest rival. Now, just a few days - and a thumping vote count by the audience ? is all that is keeping Shveta Salve away from the crown of the queen of dancing.

DIRECTOR SANJAY Leela Bhansali, one of the three judges of the celebrity dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’, has already compared her with Madhuri Dixit. Her grace and poise along with well-coordinated moves with her dancing partner choreographer Longines has taken her far ahead of her nearest rival. Now, just a few days - and a thumping vote count by the audience – is all that is keeping Shveta Salve away from the crown of the queen of dancing.

In the City to garner votes for her performance on the show aired on Sony television - grand finale of which is slated on October 27 -Shveta was at her sultry best when she interacted with the media persons at Hotel Sayaji on Tuesday along with Longines as part of the channel’s promotional campaign for ‘Jhalak .’.

Shveta, who plays a psychiatrist in the ongoing show ‘Left Right Left’, stunned one and all when she revealed that she is not a trained dancer. “This is for the first time I have attempted a dance show and Longi has to be given credit for honing my skills,” Shveta, dressed in a pink salwar-kameez with golden embroidery, said.

Apart from Bhansali, the celebrity dance show has choreographer Farah Khan and actress Shilpa Shetty as the other two judges. Earlier participants of the show included Ajay Jadeja, Pooja Bedi, Mahesh Manjarekar and Rati Agnihotri among others, who paired with a choreographer, set the small screen ablaze by dancing to world music like jazz, salsa and samba. The participants are given 50 per cent votes by the judges and the other half comes from audience who vote though SMS and also landline voting.

And it is campaigning for this voting that has brought Shveta to the cultural capital of Madhya Pradesh. Going by what judges have rated her, Shveta is far ahead of her rival Mona (Jassi) Singh. But she would need more ayes from the public to win the coveted spot.

The slim beauty, who has acted in serials like Kitty Party, Kahin Kissi Roz and Kittu Sab Janti Hai, shows a natural flair for dancing which was evident when she posed with her dancing partner for the shutterbugs. Fielding questions – and dodging a few – she told about her background, her other serials, her interests and her future plans - results of the show notwithstanding.

Here’s wishing this ‘amchi mulgi’ Shveta Salve all the very best for the grand finale.
