What steps are being taken to improve medicine supply at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital?

We have received a quarterly budget of Rs 25 lakh for the purchase of medicines. Out of it about Rs 19 lakh will be spent in the SRN Hospital and the remaining six lakh in the SN Children's Hospital. Another Rs 25 lakh have also been received for purchase of medicines for the next quarter. Moreover, with the posting of regular superintendent-in-charge the medicine supply and other services will soon be regularised at SRN Hospital.

What improvements have taken place in the academic area?

After a gap of almost 10 years, at least 10 new lecturers have been posted at the physiology, social and preventive medicine, biochemistry, pathology, anaesthesia, ENT, TB and Chest, cardiology and plastic surgery departments. With their appointments, the students will get better exposure in different areas and more avenues will open for research work. The medical college library has also been updated. Soon it will become centrally air-conditioned.

Have you taken steps to address the problem of nurses and paramedics at the SRNH?

Nurses are demanding better power supply and proper sewage facility. The work is under way in both the areas. But still we can't completely overcome the power tripping problem, unless the staff stop using heaters for domestic purpose.

Why power crisis has deepened at the SRNH despite High Court's order for 24-hour uninterrupted power supply?

For the past few days the SRNH has been facing serious power crisis. But it is either due to local fault or long hours of unscheduled rostering from Minto Park sub-station. However, the power supply situation will improve very soon.
