Alleging that many influential political leaders are involved in land "grabbing" in the city, BJP on saturday demanded immediate action against them.
"Since there are certain influential political leaders and their families involved in land grabbing, it becomes all the more important for the administration to bring such culprits to the book," Pradesh BJP president Ashok Khajuria told reporters in Jammu.
Media were reporting that there has been much land grabbing in different parts of the state, he said and alleged that this was taking place with the active involvement of political leaders, including former Chief minister Farooq Abdullah.
Reiterating the party's demand of publishing a white paper over encroached land, especially the forest land in surrounding areas of Jammu city, the Pradesh BJP chief said the state government should take immediate measures to vacate them.
Referring to the report submitted by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, regarding Karnalia Chak forest land dispute on the outskirts of the city, he said it should be made public.
Claiming that he has information that the report has named certain persons as land grabbers, Khajuria demanded registration of cases against them.
