Takhar ends at 21st position
Indian rower Bajranglal Takhar upgraded his personal best timing to finish 21st in the men’s singles sculls rowing event.
Indian rower Bajranglal Takhar upgraded his personal best timing to finish 21st in the men’s singles sculls rowing event at the Olympics here on Friday. The Indian rower came up with his personal best of 7:41.73 at the Munich world championships last year.
Devender Kumar Khandwal and Manjeet Singh finished third in their classification race to take the overall 19th place in the lightweight double sculls. Khandwal and Manjeet clocked 6:40.34.
Gagan, Sanjeev bow out
Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajput were readily shown the exit door in the qualifying round of shooting’s 50m Rifle Prone event at the Games.
Gagan’s signed off with 99 that could not put his campaign back on track. Sanjeev shot 97 but could not fire himself into contention for a berth in the final.
Preeja finishes 25th
Preeja Sreedharan could not better her personal best and put up a mundane show to finish a lowly 25th in the women’s 10,000m event.
In the discus throw event, Krishna Poonia and Harwant Kaur, performed way below their best and finished way down in the final standings. Poonia managed a best of 58.23 mts on the second of her three throws - the other being 57.31 mts and 58.15 mts.
Also making an early exit was Harwant Kaur, who was way below the 61.09 mts. In the heptathlon, J.J. Shobha, braved a knee injury to complete her event, was lying 29th while G.G. Pramila was 32nd with 3,419 points and Susmita Singha Roy was 34th with 3,391.
