Liven up your home with the shades of Tangerine Tango the colour of 2012 as forecasted by Pantone, the global authority on colour. This reddish orange shade was chosen by the colour authority for its happy connotations, meant to cheer the consumer during these dark economic times.

The vibrant shade used in interior spaces provides an energy boost and cheers you up. Interior designer Dimple Kohli says, “This vibrant and bright shade has instant capacity to lift any décor. I have used this colour in my boys’ bathroom. The dark black and olive interior is brightened up with orange and gold mosaic tiles. The colour is further enhanced with candles and towels of the bright shade.”

DecorA unisex colour

While Tangerine Tango, or orange, is a great alternative to pink to be used in a girl’s room, it can look equally stylish for a boy’s room when clubbed with muted or dark shades.

An easy-on-the-pocket way to perk up your home is to colour one wall of your room in this high voltage shade or spread it throughout with patterned home accessories and furnishings, such as pillow covers, cushions, tabletop accessories, furniture upholstery, etc.

Chandrika V Anand of Pylones@Taabir, says, “The colour adds fun and cheerfulness to any interior space, whether used in a girl or a boy’s room. The shade can be contrasted with other bright shades of pink, green and turquoise.”

Feng Shui significance
This vivacious hue has the power to lighten up your mood and warm up your home. According to feng shui, the colour also has a relevant significance this year.

Feng shui expert Ritu Kapoor says, “Orange is the colour for recognition and fame in feng shui and it brings wealth and prosperity in abundance. It should be used in the southwest and northeast (especially in 2012) of the house to keep away robbery, gossips and sickness. This year, with a special prosperity star in the section, orange is great to energise this sector.”

What is the Pantone?
Pantone LLC is the global authority on colour and provider of professional colour standards for the design industries. It has forecasted Tangerine Tango a vivacious, enticing hue as the Colour of the Year for 2012.

Last year, the colour provider had chosen Honeysuckle, a bright pink shade, for its verve and vigour.
