Tantrik twist in boy?s death

india Updated: Jan 13, 2007 01:25 IST

A TWIST was added to the story behind the death of an eight-year-old boy whose body was recovered on Wednesday from a garden at Harijan Colony (Rajmohalla) as the residents of the area alleged that the boy was a victim of a Tantrik act.

The body that had been found wrapped in a blanket in the morning could be identified only in the evening when the boy’s adopted father Krishnachand Katlana alias Aziz Bhai came to the police station and said the boy was Ramzan. He had adopted him from one Zahira Bi of Burhanpur, who could not look after him due to poverty.

Aziz Bhai told Malharganj police that he himself was looking for the boy and since early morning. He had told police that as the boy was in the habit of fleeing away from home, he had been excessively worried.

However, neighbours also came to the police station and said that Ramzan had been ill and that Aziz Bhai used to beat him and a few days back some of the neighbours had found burn marks on Ramzan’s body. What is more they even accused Aziz Bhai of practicing witchcraft.

When police grilled Aziz, he said that Ramzan had died of illness and that he had himself thrown the body in the garden, as he did not have any money to bury him. However, police are not buying the story completely. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
