BJP's Tarun Vijay is all set to bag the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Uttarakhand, as he being the only candidate filing nomination papers before the deadline ended this evening.

Vijay, BJP's national spokesman, is the only candidate filing his nomination papers for the June 17 biennial Rajya Sabha elections, Vidhan Sabha Secretary and Returning Officer, Mahesh Chandra said.

He, however, said the formal declaration of Vijay's election to the Upper House would be made on June 10 only after his papers are found correct in scrutiny and the last date of withdrawal of names passes off.

Earlier in the day, Vijay, accompanied by Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, state BJP President Bishan Singh Chufal and other senior leaders, reached the office of Returning Officer and filed his nomination papers in two sets.
