Task Force to visit Lalgarh tomorrow

A task force reconstituted by West Bengal government today to supervise development work in the tribal areas would visit Lalgarh and adjoining areas from tomorrow to study the ground situation and help prepare a package for their progress.

A task force reconstituted by West Bengal government today to supervise development work in the tribal areas would visit Lalgarh and adjoining areas from tomorrow to study the ground situation and help prepare a package for their progress.

Backward Classes Welfare Secretary R G Meena said a team of eight officers will tour Lalgarh, Ramgarh, Kantapahari and Pirakata in West Midnapore for six days to ascertain local needs.

They will submit a report of their findings to the government which will prepare a package for infrastructure development and employment generation scheme in those areas.

Later, the groups would also visit Bankura and Purulia districts, Meena said.

Meanwhile, state secretariat sources said that the 22 suspected Maoists arrested during the ongoing operations at Lalgarh and its adjoining areas, have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and not under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
