Tata Teleservies GSM brand, Tata Docomo, on Wednesday said it plans to rollout 100 flagship 'Dive In´ stores in the next three to six months.
Part of the $ 2 billion committed to GSM, the stores would be launched across all cities, Tata Docomo President Deepak Gulati said after inaugrating a 'Dive In' store in Bangalore.
"The store is a unique and revolutionary concept that offers a relaxing and interactive environment for consumers aimed at inspiring and educating them on the benefits of mobility. Customers who visit these centres will be able to experience new user interfaces, richer browsing and cutting edge devices as also customised Tata Docomo applications and services," Tata Teleservices Limited MD Anil Sardana said.
This could later expand to include entertainment and there could be tie-ups on this front.
Pay-for-use "has been well received" Sardana said adding the move by other players to adopt it is a form of "homage".
As a player TTSL does not restrict pay-for-use concept to just calls, but to all components and did not charge rentals for missed calls or alerts as some of the other players, he said.
Though the sustainability model has ruffled some feathers as 18-20 per cent of the operators' earnings come from unfinished calls, TTSL has asked its customers not to pay for such calls, he said.
