Home-grown auto major Tata Motors reported a 23.8 per cent increase in total vehicle sales, including exports, in September despite its car sales being adversely affected due to a fire at the paint shop in its Pune facility during the month.
The company said it registered a total sale of 49,157 units in September compared to 39,707 units in the same month last year.
Passenger vehicle business reported a total sale of 18,609 vehicles in the domestic market in September this year, an increase of 15.7 per cent over the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.
The company's flagship car Indica sold 10,694 units, a growth of 10.6 per cent, while utility vehicles Sumo and Safari accounted for 4,347 units, a growth of 42.3 per cent over September last year, it said.
Commercial vehicles sales in September in the domestic market stood at 26,627 units, as against 19,087 units last year, up 39.5 per cent.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicles sales stood at 15,193 units, a growth of 34.1 per cent over September last year, while light commercial vehicle sold 11,434 units, a growth of 47.4 per cent, the company said.
