As many as 12 days behind its schedule the tazias of Moharram were buried in different Imambaras and Karbalas on Sunday under tight security.
Chief mut’walli of Mian Sahib Imambara Estate Adnan Farrukh Shah, along with other religious leaders of the community, recited verses out of the holy Qur’an before the burial of tazia. The process started in the afternoon today and lasted two hours.
It may be recalled here that due to an incident of violence on January 27 curfew had been imposed under three police stations and the Moharram procession was postponed.
Shah had appealed to the mut’wallis of Imam Chowk not to take out the tazia procession on Ashura on January 30 due to the disturbance and the tazias were kept at Imam Chowk.
As the city returned to normal, administrative officials approached Shah and appealed to him to allow taking out of the procession but Shah refused in view of the situation in the city and decided that the tazias be buried on Sunday.
Following his call, the members of the minorities community took out the tazias in small groups and cremated them at Imambara and Karbala.
No untoward incident was reported from any part of the city much to the relief of administrative officers.
Members of the community also put off the green flags from the Imam Chowk to mark the end of Moharram.
