TDP leader Mohiuddin joins Congress

TDP leader and party’s district general secretary Gouse Mohiuddin, who resigned from the party, joined the Congress on Thursday.

TDP leader and party’s district general secretary Gouse Mohiuddin, who resigned from the party, joined the Congress on Thursday.

Mohiuddin was extended a warm welcome by Congress activists and party leaders including Guntur district Dongress President S Basava Punnayya, senior Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and state transport minister K Laxmi Narayana at his residence in Krishnanagar.

The leader, who was associated with TDP since its formation in 1983, stepped down after the party denied him a Lok Sabha ticket.

TDP MLA from Tenali G Uma also quit the party after it nominated former technical education minister A Rajendra Prasad in the constituency. Uma who hails from a political family, was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly in 1999 but lost the election in 2004.
