The Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday released its first list of candidates for 27 constituencies spread over Telangana and north coastal Andhra regions of the state for the coming Assembly elections.
Most of seats for which candidates were announced were non-controversial and the nominees were mostly sitting MLAs and former legislators.
Ten sitting MLAs and senior leaders of the party were given tickets in the first lot.
TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu will release the second list later tonight.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti announced the names of 11 more candidates in the afternoon. Early in the day it has announced 15 candidates.
Five sitting MLAs were re-nominated by the TRS in the 26 seats for which candidates were announced so far.
The TDP and the TRS have not yet announced any candidates for the Lok Sabha seats. Since Wednesday and Thursday are said to be inauspicious, there is no likelihood of the candidates filing their nominations.
Since March 27 is Ugadi, the Telugu New Year Day, the candidates are expected to file their papers only after the festival.
Meanwhile, the Praja Rajyam Party that was supposed to release its first list on Tuesday itself, did not come out with any names even today. It was probably waiting for the TRS and the TDP to announce their candidates.
