THE State Government has formed a team of officers of the Forest Department to carry out a survey of the progress of saplings planted in various parts of the State between July and September this year.
The government has ordered for the verification to ensure quality work.
According to chief conservator of forest, UP (Southern Zone) Dr Ashwini Kumar, “A team of officers headed by chief conservator is carrying out a survey of the progress of plantation. The work includes survival rate of the plants and the average height of different variety of plants.”
The chief conservator, assisted by one or two DFOs, was carrying out the verification work in areas which did not fall in their jurisdiction or the place of posting, said Dr Kumar.
He further said that there were 23 such teams and each team was doing verification work in three to four districts.The UP Government issued directives to carry out verification work on September 29, said Dr Kumar. He added that the officers concerned were required to submit the report to principal chief conservator of forest by October 26.
