People started thronging Sant Hirdaram’s famous hut from early morning for the last darshan. Among those, who paid homage to the Sant and laid wreaths on the mortal remains, included Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri, Mayor Sunil Sood, BJP leader Anil Dave, BDA chairman Dhruvnarayan Singh and MP Kailash Joshi.
A huge crowd gathered at the hut by nine am. The body was taken out in a special ‘Doli’ at 10 am and kept outside the hut for people to have a darshan.
His disciple, Sant Siddhabhau assured the people that the Doli would be kept till all paid their tributes. The Chief Minister arrived around 10.15 am.
All the market places, schools and colleges in Bairagarh township remained closed. Traffic from Bhopal was diverted via Kalka square and Lalghati.
After paying homage, Suresh Pachauri described the demise of Sant Hirdaram as an irreparable loss. The real tributes to him would be to follow his path of serving the humanity, he added. Mayor Sunil Sood said Swamiji was concerned about the plight of the people and it was our prime duty to fulfill all his dreams. BJP leader Anil Dave said Swamiji inspired his followers to do real service.
Swamiji was ailing for quite a long time and his health deteriorated on Wednesday morning. People believed that he embraced his death willingly at around 9 pm on Wednesday. Dr Bilani, who was treating him, also expressed the same views.
Sant Hansraj, who came from Bhilwara, Sant Siddhabhau and Sant’s close followers, performed the last rites. Sant’s Samadhi will be made at the hut, it was decided.
Leaders pay homage to Hirdaram
CUTTING ACROSS political lines, leaders paid glowing tributes to philanthropist Sant Hirdaram, recalling his immense contribution towards education, health and social welfare sectors in Bhopal. Governor Dr Balram Jakhar described the sant as Karmyogi and expressed the wish that his followers will carry forward the sant’s works.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the Sant’s hut and laid a wreath on his mortal remains. He termed Sant Hirdaram’s contribution for social harmony, health and education as unparallel.
Union Minister of State for Personnel Suresh Pachauri, Commerce and Industry Minister Babulal Gaur, BJP leader Kaptan Singh Solanki, Mayor Sunil Sood, BDA chairman Dhruvnarayan Singh, BMC chairman Ramdayal Prajapati and MLA Uma Shankar Gupta also visited the Sant’s Kutia to pay homage.
Speaker Ishwardas Rohani expressed the sad demise of Sant Hirdaram his personal loss. Deputy Speaker Hazarilal Raghuvanshi has also paid tribute to the Sant. MPCC chief Subhash Yadav in a statement said that the Sant would always be remembered for his contribution and service for the City.
The Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi described the departed Sant as the embodiment of compassion. He will always remain a source of inspiration for all of us, she said in a statement.
Congress leaders Brijmohan Shrivastava and PC Sharma laid a wreath on behalf of the party on the mortal remains of Sant Hirdaram. The Congress and BJP corporators in the Bhopal Municipal Corporation have also expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sad demise of Sant Hirdaram.
