The seventh Manthan award that recognises best technology solutions across South Asia for empowerment of the masses were announced on Saturday.
The award was given out in fifteen categories this year including e-agriculture & livelihood, e-health, e-culture & heritage and e-governance among others.
“Manthan Award 2010 has received over 450 nominations spread across 15 categories. This year has seen a phenomenal rise in nominations from Bangladesh and Pakistan compared to their contributions in 2009,” said Osama Manzar, chairman of Manthan Award.
This year the award included two new categories in the field of agriculture and travel & tourism. The award received nominations from eight South Asian countries of India, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
