A 17-year-old girl, who was returning home from work at night, was dragged into a car and raped by two men.
On Monday night, Asha (name changed to protect identity) left the clinic where she works as a receptionist for her Pawarnagar residence.
“I usually walk home. That day it was raining and the street lights weren’t working. I noticed a man in a black raincoat standing next to a gray car,” Asha said.
“The man suddenly caught my hand and dragged me inside the car. There was another man inside who started the car.”
They drove a few metres away from the clinic and raped her, she added. Then they dropped her near her home.
“My mother and sister took me to the police station after I told them what had happened,” said the Class 10 dropout.
“I told the police that I couldn’t identify the duo as it was dark and they had covered their faces with handkerchiefs. They may have been in their early 20s and spoke fluent Marathi.”
“Medical reports suggest that she was raped. We have also sent the vaginal swabs and her clothes for chemical analysis ,” said Senior Inspector Vijay Jagtap of the Vartak Nagar police station.
Asha’s father works in a small-scale industry, while her mother is a domestic help.
