A security guard was seriously injured when a speeding Chevrolet Optra, being driven by a 16-year-old student of GD Goenka World School, rammed into him on Thursday morning.

Prinkal Mahajan, the son of a businessman, has been booked under Sections 279 and 338 of the IPC for driving negligently and injuring the guard. Prinkal will have to stay in lockup at the DLF Police station on Friday night.

The student was trying to overtake two other cars — a Fiat Palio and Toyota Land Cruiser — driven by fellow students when the mishap occurred. In all, seven students were on a joyride, and Prinkal, all of 16, even had a driving licence made in J&K.

The students later manhandled the two guards at Richmond Park apartments in DLF City. Doctors said Dilip K Singh’s (the guard) left leg was smashed, while he suffered multiple fractures on his right leg.

“It’s too early to comment whether he would be able to walk again,” said Dr Ravi Suhata. Prinkal’s classmates, Aman Nagar and Md Mohin have been challaned under Sections 180 and 181.
