The email from Hollywood actor Robert De Niro to the police, as well as the recorded conversations between the Tehelka journalist and Shoma Chaudhury, were filed as part of the supplementary charge sheet by the Goa police on Tuesday.

The chargesheet against Tehelka co-founder Tarun Tejpal, charged with raping and sexually assaulting a junior colleague in Goa last November, was filed in February.

De Niro was one of the speakers at the conference organised by the magazine. The journalist who was allegedly assaulted was deputed to chaperone De Niro and it was in the lift of the hotel block where he was staying that the alleged incidents took place.

His reply, sent to the Goa police in May, confirmed he was at the event and was being chaperoned by the journalist and one other member of the hotel staff. He said he had gone to the conference with his daughter and only came to know of the alleged rape from news reports.
