The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) of TRS and various people's organisations today criticised VK Duggal, Member-Secretary of the Centre-appointed Srikrishna Committee, for attending functions hosted by Congress MPs from non-Telangana regions.
"Duggal's meeting with the non-Telangana MPs is creating doubts in our minds. Justice Srikrishna (who heads the panel) should clarify on this matter," JAC Convener M Kodandaram told reporters.
Talking to reporters in Delhi a few days ago, several Congress MPs from Telangana also took exception to Duggal reportedly visiting the residence of Congress Rajya Sabha member and former union minister T Subbarami Reddy in the national capital.
The Telangana MPs reportedly asked how can Duggal visit the residence of a non-Telangana MP when he is supposed to give a fair and impartial report on the statehood issue.
TRS has also taken exception to Duggal, a former Union Home Secretary, visiting the residence of Reddy.
Duggal, however, asserted that he is an Indian first and treated all regions of the country alike. He has known Reddy for about 15 years now, Duggal said.
The Member-Secretary reminded he had attended an art exhibition on Telangana earlier and that he had tea with MPs from the region on a different occasion.
