The Congress and BJP on Thursday blamed each other for adopting 'double standards' on the Telangana issue.
While participating in the debate on land acquisition in the Assembly, senior Congress Legislator Jeevan Reddy said the BJP had no moral right to talk on the Telangana issue as it rejected the Congress' demand for constitution of Second States' Reorganisation Commission during the NDA rule.
He alleged that the BJP was raking it up now only to gain political mileage.
To this, BJP Floor Leader G Kishan Reddy said his party was committed to formation of smaller states.
He said BJP was only the national party which had adopted a resolution on the issue at its National Executive, after UPA Sub Committee Chairman and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee claimed that he was unable to finalise his report without a reply from the BJP.
Congress Member Sridar Babu said the BJP was harping the issue now only for electoral understanding with the TRS after it suffered a set back in the recent local body elections.
