Telangana protestors on Thursday disrupted a Twenty20 cricket match and chased out players belonging to the coastal Andhra region at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.
About hundred protestors shouting ‘Jai Telangana’ rushed into the playing area during the match between Hyderabad XI and Andhra XI.
Sensing the menacing attitude of the agitators, the players ran back to the safety of the pavilion. The match was abandoned.
Two more persons allegedly committed suicide on Thursday over the Telangana issue.
Suresh (21) hanged himself in his house in Nizamabad district. He left a note behind stating that he had lost hope of Telangana becoming a reality.
Suresh’s family members said he was active in the agitation.
In the neighbouring Medak district, another young man, A Dasarath, committed suicide at his residence, allegedly demanding early creation of Telangana state.
The bandh called by Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) evoked a tepid response.
At the Osmania University, students took out a peace rally in the memory of three colleagues who allegedly committed suicide for the Telangana cause.
The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday decided to probe the death of MCA student K Venugopal Reddy whose death gave a fresh lease of life to the Telangana agitation.
The charred body of Venugopal was found in the Osmania University campus on Tuesday sparking off violent protests.
