Telcordia announces Indian entity

Telcordia, a multinational IT major, announced on Monday the formation of its Indian arm Telcordia Technologies Private Limited (TTPL) that will provide dedicated resources to mobile, landline and cable operators across the country.
The company has immense potential in the telecom sector and the new Indian entity is an example of its commitment to help the country's service providers to capitalise the potential, Telcordia Chief Executive Officer Dan Carroll told reporters at the launch.
The Indian branch will build on the company's existing customer base, that includes Tata, Idea Cellular, Reliance, Department of Telecommunications and TRAI, he said.
TTPL will be headquartered at Gurgaon, with offices in Hyderabad and a 38,000 square feet laboratory located at TIDEL park.
The new laboratory will employ 150 IT professionals in next 18 months that will go up to 500 in a phased manner, Carroll said.
Chennai is becoming a Telecom sector hub, with a lot of companies like Nokia, Ericsson, Foxconn and Flextronics setting up their units.
